This glossary of operatic Italian includes about 1700 entries. It will be expanded over time with the addition of new entries. Each entry in the glossary is accompanied by:

synonyms in modern Italian where applicable
translation in German and English
guidelines for pronunciation

_{The pronunciation guidelines consist of phonological indications, not
phonetic transcriptions. The accent is identified for each word. If the accent
falls on an „E“ or „O“, we specify
whether the vowel should be pronounced as open or closed: é = /e/; è = /}_ε_{/; ó = /o/; ò = /ɔ/. Only an accented „E“
or „O“ can be pronounced as open.}

_{Per una ricerca più efficiente, digitare la parola incompleta.
Si troveranno così anche forme coniugate dei verbi, sostantivi e aggettivi al
singolare ecc. Per parole molto brevi (p.es. “ite”) conviene invece cliccare
